제48회 그래미 시상식은 평화를 선택했다.
반전과 평화를 외치는 세계적인 록그룹 U2가 제 48회 그래미상 5관왕에 올랐다. U2는 8일 오후 8시(현지시간)부터 미국 로스앤젤레스 스테이플스센터에서 열린 제 48회 그래미상 수상식에서 앨범 '원자 폭판을 해체하는 법'(How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb'으로 올해의 앨범상을 수상했다.
또 U2는 올해의 노래상과 최우수 록앨범상 등 5개 부문을 석권해 48회 그래미상 시상식을 휩쓸었다.
8개 부문에 노미네이트돼 최다 부문 수상이 점쳐졌던 머라이어 캐리는 최고 R&B앨범상, 최고 R&B음악상, 최고 여자 R&B가수상 등 3개 부문을 수상하는 데 그쳤다.
한 때 한물 간 가수로 불렸던 캐리는 지난 해 '미미의 자유'(The Emancipation of Mimi)가 400만장 이상의 판매고를 기록하면서 이번 그래미상에 가장 유력한 수상자로 거론됐다. 캐리는 지난 1990년 그래미상 신인상을 수상한 뒤 줄곧 그래미로부터 외면받았다.
거친 언사 때문에 수상 여부가 불투명했던 펑크 록 밴드 그린 데이는 올해의 레코드상을 수상했다. 그린데이는 이미 그래미의 전초전인 아메리칸 뮤직어워드, MTV 비디오뮤직어워드 등에서 주요 부문을 휩쓴 바 있다.
8개 부문 후보에 오른 신예 존 레전드는 신인상과 최고 R&B 앨범상과 최고 남성 R&B 보컬상을 수상 3관왕의 영예를 안았다.
'아메리카 아이돌'이 배출한 가수 케리 클락슨은 팝부문 최우수 여성 보컬상과 최우수 팝 앨범상을 수상해 2관왕에 올랐다. 10년만에 새 앨범을 발표한 흑인 가수 스티비 원더는 팝부문 최우수 보컬상을 수상했다.
한국계 혼혈가수로 여성 보컬 부문에 노미네이트돼 관심을 모은 에이므리는 안타깝게도 수상의 영예를 누리지 못했다. 한국인 어머니와 흑인 아버지 사이에서 태어난 에이므리는 이번 그래미상 시상식에 여자 보컬과 R&B 앨범 후보에 올랐다.
에이므리는 슈퍼보울 MVP에 오른 하인스 워드와 함께 미국에서 한인 혼혈 열풍을 이끌고 있다.
이 밖에 밥 딜런의 '방향상실(No direction home)'은 최우수뮤직비디오상에, 브루스 스프링스턴의 '악마와 먼지(Devils & Dust)'는 솔로부문 락 보컬상에 선정됐다.

게다가 외국의 시상식을 보면
상을 받던 안받던간에 모두 모여 즐기는 분위기인데
우리나라는 시상식에 자신이 상을 안받으면 참석 안하는
경향들이 많은데 상에 연연하지 말고 다 같이 참석해서
서로 축하해 줄줄 아는 분위기가 되었으면 하는게 바램입니다.
